MAIN INGREDIENTS for making homemade salt scrubs or sugar scrubs:
- Sea salt, Epsom salt OR Sugar (Example: natural brown sugar). Know the difference between salt scrubs and sugar scrubs.
- Oil (Examples: Olive oil; almond oil; coconut oil; sunflower oil; wheat germ oil; almond oil; herbal infused oil)
OPTIONAL fun ingredients for salt scrubs and sugar scrubs
- Raw honey
- Aloe vera gel
- Glycerine
- Vitamin E oil
- Essential oil (for fragrance. Examples: lavender; lemon)
- Green tea or other tea flakes
- Lemon juice & Lemon zest
- Dried calendula petals
- Dried rose petals
- Dried lavender flowers
- Natural food coloring (if the salt or sugar is white)
- Uncooked, ground oatmeal
HOW TO MAKE SALT SCRUBS OR SUGAR SCRUBS:
- Place all ingredients except the oil into a bowl
- Incrementally add and mix in the oil until you achieve a consistency with which you are comfortable
- Store in a jar with an airtight lid
- During a shower or bath, apply the scrub by very gently rubbing and massaging it over damp skin
- If possible, soak in a warm bath
- Rinse off the scrub with warm and then cold water
- Pat dry with a towel
- Use about once weekly
- Do not buy salt scrubs anymore :)
