Activated Charcoal

What is Activated Charcoal (& how it differs from Regular Charcoal simply called 'Charcoal').

Contrasting activated charcoal, aka 'activated carbon' against charcoal may provide the context in which one may appreciate what the former is. Although both are derived from burning soft woods (that very commonly include coconut husks), activated charcoal undergoes a second, special 'activation' process. Specifically, it is injected with special vapor under pressure which renders it considerably more porous (than charcoal) and, in turn, giving it a larger surface area. This porosity makes it so adsorbent with a potent negative charge that it becomes transformed into a high-demand therapeutic substance.

It is also worth highlighting that activated charcoal is safe. In fact, it does not even enter into the bloodstream. However, one must be careful to take it correctly because it does not discriminate between substances you consider to be 'good' and 'bad'.

Uses of Activated Charcoal

  • Detoxification of the gastrointestinal tract and gut. The activation process also gives the charcoal a potent negative charge which attracts substances with a positive charge. Once the chemicals have attached themselves to the charcoal, they can be passed naturally through the gastrointestinal system for speedier elimination from the body. The high level of porosity of activated charcoal surpasses that of (regular) charcoal. It is often added to cleansing juices.
    • Occasional black health foods from ice creams, bread, pancakes, syrup, cookies to drinks.
      • Quick jelly idea with charcoal
        • Add charcoal to fruit juice before allowing to cool in a mold.
    • 25 grams is the starting dose used in many hospitals in response to suspicions of poisoning.
  • Skin detoxification.
  • Digestive aid.
  • Antacid.
  • Heavy metal removal.
  • Dental whitener.
In contrast, regular charcoal may be used for less demanding projects like removing chlorine from water, removing odors, drawing and cooking.

Activated Charcoal DOs & DON'Ts

  • Do use activated charcoal during exercise sessions.
  • Do NOT use activated charcoal within at least 1 hour of taking health supplements and medication. This is necessary to ensure that the activated charcoal does not adsorb these beneficial substances.

Agar Agar a medicinal super food

Agar agar, aka kanten, seaweed gelatin, China grass, sea vegetable gelatin (gelatina vegetal). Agar agar is a sea weed extract that is mostly found in health food stores and supermarkets, especially Asian supermarkets in a white powder or thread form. The thread form looks like translucent plastic threads. Agar agar is also used as a vegan substitute for gelatin.

Uses of Agar Agar
  • Medicinally, agar has several applications. For instance, it is used as a mild laxative that can help in removing toxins, fats and sugar from the gut. Since it absorbs glucose from the stomach and passes through the gut quickly, agar agar is ideal for people with type 2 diabetes melitus. Additionally, it also absorbs cholesterol and is therefore good for lowering cholesterol. In fact, agar agar is even used as a more effective and vegan substitute for gelatin for treating bone, cartilage and joint damage. In fact, its use can prevent the need for operations like hip and knee replacement. Since it helps to regenerate tissue and organs, agar agar is even repairs kidney and heart damage. In fact, it is simply useful in the treatment of all diseases and injuries, including heart disease, cancer, Alzheimers and Parkinsons disease. Since agar agar can contribute to the reversal of any disease (and improvement of one's general health), its use may contribute to not needing / avoiding stem cell transplants (a common treatment for some types of cancer). Yes, it is also good estrogen-dependent cancers like breast cancer, ovarian tumors and uterine cancer. It is common for medical use to involve one serving daily for up to 2 months, 30 minutes before meals or 2 hours after meals. However, do NOT use agar agar if you have viral or bacterial infections (as it promotes microbial growth).
  • For weight loss and as a high fiber, vegan health food in ice cream, jelly desserts, meal replacement recipes, 'milk' thickeners and so on. As with any other algae, it is rich in iodine and trace minerals. It is often used for weight loss because it is free of sugar, carbs, fat and calories but has lots of fiber. Furthermore, agar agar is free from starch, soy, corn, gluten, yeast, wheat, milk, egg and preservatives. Agar allows you to create solid forms from liquids to the extent that the end product may be sliced with a knife, chewed and swallowed. Although having 0 calories, it has a slightly sweet taste. Although the taste of end products can be the same as gelatin (an animal product), agar agar renders end products with a different feel. For instance, agar agar products do not have the same soft and bouncy feeling as gelatin. Agar agar is commonly used to thicken soups, ice creams and to create fruit desserts. NB, Agar agar is free of taste, odor or color. NB it will not set in certain conditions, namely in wine, vinegar, distilled water, foods rich in oxalic acid (like chocolate, spinach, beets, beet greens, wheat germ, peanuts).
  • Cosmetically, agar agar can be used to soften and moisturize the skin and hair. It can therefore be used in soap, ointments, lotions and creams, especially since it has anti-wrinkling properties. It has been said to be used in toothpaste.

Agar Agar in Powder Form
Quantity to use is roughly 1 tsp powder : 1.3 cups liquid for a sold product that can be cut with a knife.
  • Add the powder to only cold water or other clear liquid that allows you to see how well it dissolves. (It will form clumps if added to hot water).
  • Whisk and bring to a boil until the powder is completely dissolved. Check whether the agar agar has completely dissolved by looking at the solution while it pours out of a spoon.
  • Continue whisking until the end to ensure the agar agar does not settle and create a gel layer at the bottom of the pot.
  • Dissolve sugar if you wish the sweet taste.
  • Turn off the heat and quickly add fruit puree (and lime to taste if you wish), tea, milk and or juice.
  • Pour into the mold while still hot. Get rid of air bubbles before the liquid cools and sets by stirring around them with a spoon and or tapping the bottom of a firm mold on a hard surface.
  • Add chunks of fruit and pieces of leaves (like mint for instance).
  • Allow to set either at room temperature or in the refrigerator. (Unlike gelatin, agar agar does not need to be refrigerated in order to set). If you wish to pour different layers, use a fork to stick holes in the first layer when it has already fully set before pouring the second layer. Do not worry about melting the first layer since agar agar does not melt easily with heat.

  • When soft and hydrated, simmer for roughly 5 minutes or until the pieces are completely dissolved.
  • Follow the steps used for the powder form after the powder is thoroughly dissolved in hot liquid. (See above)

Tips: How to maximize the efficacy of any parasite cleanse / detox

Congratulations! Realizing the importance of doing a parasite cleanse is half the battle. Here are safe and natural ways to improve the efficacy of any parasite cleanse / detox.
Be Parasite free!

When to start a Parasite Cleanse?
If possible, plan your parasite cleanse around the full moon. In other words, you can start to detox about one week before the full moon. This is based on the fact that parasites are naturally most active and reproduce during the full moon period.

If you do not start to detox around the full moon period, be sure to extend the cleanse long enough to include it.

The Recommended Duration of a Parasite Cleanse

Try to prevent quick and easy parasite reinfection after a cleanse by committing to the parasite cleanse for more than 1 month. Naturopathic doctors often recommend 3-month detox periods for parasite infections, especially for the first time.

Extending the commitment ensures that you tackle all stages of the reproductive cycle of parasites (whether microscopic or larger types like worms) and therefore improve the efficacy of the product being used.

Implications of performing a very short term Parasite Cleanse?

Do NOT be misled by product packages that provide small detox product quantities as those with sufficient stock to only last for periods less than 1 month. Such detox product packages appear to be so designed for the sake of maximizing earnings.

Do not take a single small dose of the product and expect that your parasite problem will disappear indefinitely ... even when you stop seeing the signs. (Read more about the signs and symptoms). Just as birds and people migrate to better environmental conditions, parasites will also migrate to a deeper part of your body where the small dose has not yet reached.

A healthier and more economical approach may be to buy your cleanse ingredients / product in large volumes for a reduced price.

How frequently should Parasite Cleanses be done?

It is good practice to introduce parasite cleansing as a routine activity each year. After all, becoming infected again is extremely easy.

How to prevent or reduce the likelihood of future parasite infections?

There are so many easy ways in which an infection begins. For instance, the simple act of breathing dust can have implications for getting parasites. In short, avoiding an infection of parasites is challenging.

It is therefore necessary to understand how parasite infections may occur and adopt as many good practices as possible. This may include simple acts like purifying your drinking water (a source of parasites), routinely using certain health products like 'Food Grade' Diatomaceous Earth among many other ways to prevent or reduce the chance of future parasite infections. (Read an article about the parasite eradication benefits of diatomaceous earth).

Before or After other (non parasite) kinds of cleanse?

Parasites migrate throughout the body and blood and can therefore be found anywhere without exception. Since the efficacy of a liver gall-bladder cleanse can be compromised if you still have a parasite infection in that area, it is good practice to precede a liver gall-bladder cleanse with a parasite cleanse, especially if you suspect that you have a parasite infection.

Diet during a Parasite Cleanse

As much as possible, eliminate sweets, alcohol and carbohydrates from your diet while you do a parasite detox. This is recommended in light of the fact that parasites love and are nourished by these foods. Remember, aim to starve and kill the parasites!
